Life is a constant balancing act. It seems that almost every decision we make falls
somewhere between two extremes. The
trick is in discerning what position to take on any particular issue, being
careful not to lean too far to the right or to the left. Choices bombard us on every side. Questions like, “What things should be priorities
and what things can wait?” or decisions regarding what to believe about a
particular political, religious, or philosophical issue nag at us constantly. Indeed it
would appear that throughout the course of our existence, we are constantly
faced with the challenge of walking a fine line, balancing between the extremes
and attempting to stay on track without falling.
Though we would like to believe that our lives are on the right
track and that we have our priorities and belief systems straight, I think that if we were to
examine ourselves more closely, we would find areas that are slightly
out-of-balance (or perhaps totally-out-of-whack). The important thing to remember during a
time of re-evaluation is that none of us are where we should be, we’re all a
work-in-progress. Focusing
ahead and ignoring what is behind, that's the key. For, while
we can learn from past mistakes, we mustn’t let them discourage us from pushing
ahead and making essential changes to our lives.
It takes practice to learn how to balance, and without
falling a few times, we can never learn how to compensate and maintain good
balance further down the line. While
failure can be frustrating and falling can be painful, we need to get back up,
brush ourselves off, and start again.
Without pressing ahead, we can never hope to make progress in this
life. Yes it’s difficult, and finding
balance is one of the greatest challenges we face, but with God’s help and a
little perseverance, we can overcome and continue on our journey, slowly but
surely, balancing all the way…
Sorry for the late post, I've been away for the last couple of days, just got an opportunity to access my blog this afternoon. Better late than never I guess.
This was a bit of an elaborate composite. I shot the buildings separately and
duplicated and mirrored the side-shot of the primary building. I then added a gradient and used some cloud
brushes to create atmosphere. I then
shot myself separately with the chair in-studio with three strobes bounced off
of a white background to give that back-lit look. All the other elements in the shot were
brushed/painted in. This shot really
evolved from what I had originally imagined, but the result still conveys the
same idea I had intended.
That’s another
week in the books…
