Often in the search for new ideas one comes up dry. Whether it be a lack of inspiration, a shortage of good subject-matter, or just a restriction in funds, all artists struggle with producing new, awe-inspiring material. If only the lightbulb would come on sooner and more frequently...
I put in another late-nighter (or early-morninger, depending on your definition) to get this shot. It's a composite of 4 images, all taken at around 4:00 in the morning (true dedication to one's craft leaves no time for sleep; or eating for that matter). The lighting in the image is from the bulb, however the shot of the bulb was taken separately, and the base of the bulb was composited in during post, as well as the background.
This image carries with it a dark, mysterious, almost magical feel to it. I think that sometimes that is exactly what the art of creating is like. Ideas often seem muddled and unclear, and liable to change on a whim or at a moment's notice. It's fascinating to observe the evolution of an idea as it makes its journey from one's mind to a finished work of art. Many times the end result is a far cry from the original concept, but often still carries the original message it was intended to convey from the beginning. Artists struggle with organizing their thoughts and bringing to the viewer an accurate depiction of what they see with their mind's eye. So many times we try and fail miserably.
