There's nothing quite like a change of scenery to refresh the mind and renew one's creativity and inspiration. Finding oneself thrown into the midst of new sounds, smells, and surroundings tends to affect a person's perspective and bring a new appreciation for the awesome beauty that can be found anywhere and everywhere.
The coast is an amazing place, the sight of the ocean spectacular. As each wave slowly makes its way towards shore, the gentle rumbling of the foaming water, the light touch of the salty (and quite chilly) breeze, and the sound of seagulls calling to their friends as they dive and swoop about, all combine together to create an experience like no other.
This picture was taken a few minutes before sunset. Black and white doesn't do justice to the magnificent colors reflected across the waves during an autumn evening, yet it still conveys the essence of what being near the ocean is like. Dark, almost ominous clouds. Water for as far as the eye can see. Waves crashing on the shore, foaming and churning. Moist, pliable sand stretching the shore for miles, perfect for building sand-castles. Shells, rocks, clams, and remains of now unidentifiable creatures dotting the coastline. Seagulls soaring overhead. And the sun making its glorious appearance only moments before descending below the horizon.
Let's just say that I'm enjoying this opportunity to get out and see a little more of God's glorious creation as it ebbs and flows before my eyes. I'm looking forward to some more time on the beach, and hopefully some more photos...
