Wheat is one of the staple crops out on the Palouse, along with lentils, peas, and barley. With all the rain and hot sun, the crops have popped up fast, and the heads on the wheat are starting to fill out. The rolling hills of greenery is quite a sight, but I'm truly looking forward to the time when the colors begin to change, when the green turns to a rich golden brown.
This shot was taken in the evening, with the sun casting a beautiful sidelight onto the landscape. I took this shot from below the wheat, capturing it against the clear blue sky. Although black and white doesn't do justice to the gorgeous color spectrum captured in this photo, the beauty of form, light, and contrast still shine through, making this image possibly my favorite so far.
